Our Spirit Gemstones
Delve into the beautiful world of gemstones with us as we showcase those that have made it into our Kindred Spirit Collection of rings and necklaces.

Australian Opal
There’s nothing on earth quite like an Australian opal, a gem born of water and fire, light and time. Each one holds its own shifting universe, a living play of color that defies imitation. Within the Kindred Color collection, opal is more than a gemstone — it’s our muse, our signature, and the beating heart of everything we create.
Our opals are hand-selected from Australia’s most renowned fields, including Lightning Ridge, Coober Pedy, and Winton — regions known for producing stones of unmatched vibrancy and depth. Every opal in this collection is chosen by our founder, Ruth Benjamin-Thomas and cut and polished by Justin Thomas himself in our second-generation studio, where each stone’s character determines its final form.
No two opals are ever alike. Some shimmer with flashes of electric green, others with the warmth of coral and flame, each one a natural work of art, revealing its colors only when touched by light. This individuality is at the core of Kindred Color’s philosophy: we don’t design to conform, we design to express. Every opal in our range is a talisman for the unconventional soul - a symbol of creativity, intuition, and fearless self-expression.
Geologically, opal is formed when rainwater seeps into cracks in ancient rock, leaving behind silica that hardens over millennia into kaleidoscopic layers. It’s a gemstone quite literally born of transformation, shaped by patience and the unpredictable beauty of the earth itself.

Peridot
There’s an inner light to Peridot, a glow that feels alive, like sunlight filtered through new leaves. In the Kindred Color collection, it stands as a gemstone of renewal, one that celebrates both the artistry of the earth and the quiet brilliance of sustainable beauty.
Our Peridot comes from a single-origin deposit: Fuli Gemstones’ mine in the Changbai Mountains of northern China. This location is revered for producing stones of exceptional clarity and intensity. The vivid green hue of our Peridot owes its richness to a lower iron content, allowing the color to remain pure and bright. It’s a luminous, natural green that feels both fresh and grounding. Each gem is untreated, revealing its unaltered, natural beauty through expert cutting and polish.
Scientifically, Peridot is the precious form of the mineral olivine one of the earth’s most abundant yet extraordinary minerals. Olivine has a unique ability to naturally sequester carbon, capturing CO₂ from the atmosphere as it weathers. It’s a quiet reminder that the same material that adorns us can also help sustain the planet, an elegant fusion of beauty and earthbound purpose.
Across cultures, Peridot has long been called the “gem of the sun,” prized for its warmth, vitality, and power to drive away shadows. To us, it’s a talisman of renewal, born of fire, shaped by the earth, and connected to the cycle of transformation. It embodies the strength of nature in perfect balance: luminous, alive, and deeply kindred.

Green Beryl
There’s a quiet vibrancy to Green Beryl, a gemstone that hums with life rather than shouts for attention. A close cousin of emerald and aquamarine, its minty hue comes from the presence of vanadium, giving it a fresh, springlike glow that feels almost alive.
Our Green Beryl comes from an old mine parcel in the Gwantu region of central Nigeria, a source known for producing gems with a luminous, natural clarity. Like opals and emeralds, it’s a gem that asks to be worn with care with a Mohs hardness of 7.5–8.
Named from the Greek word beryllos, meaning “color of the sea,” this gemstone has long been treasured for its calming and rejuvenating energy. At Kindred Color, we see it as a talisman of renewal and a symbol of personal growth and the gentle return of vitality.
Each piece featuring Green Beryl captures that feeling of nature’s first bloom, the scent of new rain, the green pulse of fresh life, the quiet confidence that comes with beginnings. It’s a reminder to reconnect with what grounds and inspires you.
Green Beryl invites you to pause, breathe, and embrace the invigorating beauty of change - a gemstone for those who walk in step with the rhythm of nature and their own evolving story.

Pink Tourmaline
There’s something inherently uplifting about Pink Tourmaline, a gemstone that seems to hold light within it, radiating warmth and joy. Among the many colors of tourmaline, pink is the one that speaks most to the heart. It’s our pick for this collection, a gem that balances elegance with quiet strength.
Sourced from the storied Minas Gerais region of Brazil, these stones come from one of the world’s most respected tourmaline fields, celebrated for their purity of color and natural brilliance. Ours are unheated and untreated, simply cut and polished to reveal the vibrance that nature created a hallmark of Kindred Color’s commitment to authenticity and transparency.
Tourmaline has been revered across cultures for centuries, believed to hold protective and harmonising qualities. The pink variety, in particular, is said to open the heart and inspire compassion, self-confidence, and emotional renewal. We see it as a gemstone of inner warmth, a reminder that strength can be soft, and love, when grounded in truth, is a powerful force for change.
Each piece featuring Pink Tourmaline captures that feeling of quiet joy — like the final blush of sunset or the memory of a moment that still makes you smile. It’s a talisman for those who lead with empathy and seek beauty in connection.

Grey Spinel
There’s a quiet confidence to Grey Spinel, a gemstone that doesn’t seek the spotlight, yet commands it through its natural elegance. Its beauty lies in its restraint, in that rare shade of true grey not found in any other gem. Neither silver nor smoke, our spinels from Tanzania shimmer with a clarity that feels almost architectural; precise, balanced, and utterly distinctive.
While spinel is known from Myanmar’s famed deposits, Tanzania has become a treasured source for stones with remarkable color purity and brilliance. Each of our grey spinels is carefully cut to maximise sparkle, revealing a crisp luminosity that seems to hold both light and shadow at once. This harmony of tone and clarity makes it one of the most quietly captivating gems in our collection.
Throughout history, spinel has been mistaken for ruby and sapphire — a testament to its natural allure. But its true identity lies in subtlety. In Kindred Color’s world, Grey Spinel is a talisman of authenticity — a gem for those who find beauty in nuance, who understand that power can be soft-spoken. It embodies balance and composure, the quiet strength of those who stand firm in their truth. An unconventional choice for an unconventional soul.
