Last weekend was the Lightning Ridge 2013 Opal Festival. A celebration of all things opal from all around Australia. The town population swells to double, and every available bit of accommodation is booked out. The caravan parks are full, and the restaurants are crazy busy. It’s a fantastic time of year to visit.
This year the biannual International Opal Jewellery Design Awards were also held. With entrants from all over the world, there were some amazing pieces on display. Sadly we can only give you a sneak peek, and hopefully, we will get some more images soon.
This weekend (yes, the opal world is busy at this time of the year!) is the trade only Australian Opal Exhibition held on the Gold Coast in Queensland. Justin expects to be busy and see some amazing gems, so please let us know if you are on the lookout out for something in particular – your best chance is at this once-a-year event.
Would you like to visit Lightning Ridge and see the Opal Festival in full swing?…. Perhaps you can join us?
