Lightning Ridge 2013 Opal Festival

Last weekend was the Lightning Ridge 2013 Opal Festival. A celebration of all things opal from all around Australia. The town population swells to double and every available bit of accommodation is booked out. The caravan parks are full and the restaurants are crazy busy. It’s a fantastic time of year to visit. This year the biannual International Opal Jewellery Design Awards were also held.
